Welcome to Eden Review: Where will the society running from loneliness find a place?

In the kind of lives that the people of the whole world are living, migration seems to be the only support, even if it is only for a short time. Apart from mental illnesses, our sensitivity has also increased manifold. We get angry, upset, angry or sad on anything. By drinking alcohol, going to parties, quarreling or being sad with their parents, giving more attention to their friends than their family members, today’s young generation wants to declare themselves rebellious without any reason. In such a situation, there is a fear of going astray and wrong company, and sometimes such a loss is also caused, which is difficult to compensate. There are no joint families in foreign countries, parents also love their personal life more than their children, and the feeling of children to live their life in their own way affects all their decisions. The web series ‘Welcome to Eden’, released on Netflix, documents one such incident when a member of a dysfunctional family gets entangled in a conspiracy from which it is almost impossible to escape. Filmed at a very beautiful location, this web series warns us of the times to come. Must see it.

Going into the depth of this web series made in Spain, it is understood that loneliness has become a terrible disease in western countries. Due to personal reasons people are now going through lonely situations in the crowd. Some are addicted to alcohol, some are involved in life-threatening stunts, some are saddened to be part of a broken family, and some are broken in love. The reasons are different but loneliness is the same for all. Cocaine-like addiction to make a mark on social media, sometimes frustration, sometimes addiction to harassment, sometimes the desire to become a hero and sometimes the desire of a person who is tired of losing everything. Loneliness is killing everyone slowly and escapism can never be the right cure for it. It is shown in the series that some young men and women get an invitation to attend a grand party on a very beautiful island. In a very mysterious way, these people are brought to that island with great care. The party begins and some of the selected people are given a special drink, after drinking which they become unconscious. After this, the trick of the party organizer to keep these people on this island begins. By telling stories of environmental crisis, the husband and wife of this island and many of their companions want to include these new arrivals in their group by trapping them in the net of their love. What is the reason behind this, what is the secret of these people, why they want to do this… To see all this, you will have to watch the web series. The pace is a little below average but it is compensated by good acting and beautiful locations.

Starring Amala Abairstri as Zoya and Amaia Salamanca as Astrid. Apart from this, there are some Spanish actors and actresses who have done a good job in both small and big roles, but Amala and Amaaya have carried the entire series on their shoulders. Guillermo López Sánchez wrote the screenplay and dialogues with Joaquín Gorriz, the main writer in the writing team. The original story idea was given by Ramon Masilorans. Apart from the story, there are many such things in this web series that are praiseworthy, such as the background score composed by composer Lucas Vidal. Be it party music or romantic music, music of fear or music of suspense-revealing scenes, Vidal’s understanding of music doubles the effect of every scene. The cinematography by Diego Dusuil, Pablo Diaz, and Joseph Sivit is the best part of the entire series, capturing the breathtaking beauty of islands like Lanzarote and San Sebastian. The scenes of the duet of the waves arising inside the mind from the waves of the ocean are wonderful. Daniel Benmayer, director of the most violent Spanish film Extremo of the year 2021, and Manna Feite, the famous director of Spanish television, have directed this series. There is a strange tension in the whole series, due to which almost every person’s character looks mysterious and this wonder is only because of good direction.

Web series is slow. One episode is too long. It takes some time to understand the characters, but each one of the characters who survive has one or the other quality that makes the audience like them. Welcome to Eden is an in-depth look at this new type of business selling happiness in a lonely world. Preparations have started to make its second season. Watch the first season for now, and stay away from any prejudice, watch this web series by drowning in it. We will understand how lonely we are as a society.
